ROMIROMI
-
Romiromi is a traditional Māori healing practice that works deeply with the body, wairua (spirit), and energetic pathways to release physical, emotional and spiritual blockages. More than just massage, Romiromi is a sacred form of bodywork that uses deep tissue pressure, sacred touch, breathwork, vibration, and intuitive guidance to help you realign and restore your mauri (life force).
This is a journey of reconnection — back to yourself, to your whakapapa (lineage), to Papatuānuku (earth) and to the natural flow of energy within your being.
Through Romiromi, old trauma, unspoken emotions, stress and stored pain are gently brought to the surface and released, making space for clarity, balance, and a deeper sense of peace. It is physical, spiritual and energetic healing woven together — always guided by aroha (love), tikanga (correct practice) and karakia (prayer). You may feel lighter, clearer and more connected after a session.
In my practice, Romiromi honours both ancient Māori knowledge and the uniqueness of your personal journey. Each session is guided by your wairua and what is needed in that moment.
-
Romiromi can help release long-held physical tension, emotional trauma, grief, stress, anxiety, fatigue, and energetic blockages. Many people also use it to reconnect spiritually, gain clarity, or simply feel more balanced and at peace.
-
It can be intense at times — especially when releasing deep blockages — but it is always done with care, gentleness and respect for what your body is ready to release. You are fully supported throughout and I will always communicate with you during the session.
-
Most people feel lighter, clearer and deeply relaxed. Some may feel emotional or tired as the body continues to process and release afterwards — this is normal and part of the healing journey. I recommend resting and drinking plenty of water after.
-
Yes — it is suitable for all ages and stages, though I always adapt each session to meet individual needs and conditions. We will discuss any health concerns or areas to be mindful of before we begin.
-
While massage focuses mostly on muscle relaxation, Romiromi works much deeper — addressing not only muscles but also energy lines, organs, bones and your spiritual wellbeing. It is a holistic treatment that releases blockages on all levels — physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.
-
Wear comfortable clothing and come with an open heart and mind. You don’t need to know what to expect — simply trust the process and what your wairua is ready to release. We will always begin with a kōrero (chat) to make sure you feel safe and ready.
-
That depends on your personal journey. Some people experience deep shifts after just one session; others benefit from a series of sessions to continue their healing. I will always offer guidance, but you are in control of how often you return.
MIRIMIRI
-
Mirimiri is a traditional Māori healing practice that gently works with the soft tissues of the body, the energetic field, and the wairua (spirit) to restore balance, ease, and flow. Mirimiri is often seen as the sister of Romiromi — it is a more gentle, nurturing, and subtle touch therapy that encourages the body, mind, and spirit to soften, release and reconnect.
Through intuitive touch, gentle pressure, sweeping strokes, and sacred intention, Mirimiri helps clear emotional stress, ease tension, and bring harmony back to your mauri (life force). It is deeply grounding, soothing, and heart-centered.
Where Romiromi can feel deep and intense, Mirimiri offers a gentler path — like being cradled and realigned energetically and spiritually. It is especially suited when your body or spirit needs to rest, reset or gently release what no longer serves you.
Each Mirimiri session is guided by tikanga (Māori cultural practices), karakia (prayer) and wairua (spiritual connection), always respecting the tapu (sacredness) of your journey. My role is simply to facilitate what your body and spirit are ready to heal — in safe, nurturing hands.
-
Mirimiri can support emotional healing, reduce stress and anxiety, calm the nervous system, ease muscle tension, and reconnect you to your inner sense of peace and balance. It can also help soothe grief, fatigue and overwhelm.
-
Romiromi works deeply to release blockages and may feel more intense physically, while Mirimiri uses gentler touch to soothe, realign and calm the energy and spirit. They both work holistically, but Mirimiri is softer and ideal for those who need nurturing, rest and emotional support.
-
While the touch is gentle like relaxation massage, Mirimiri is not just about muscle relaxation — it is deeply spiritual and energetic. It works on the wairua (spirit), tinana (body), and hinengaro (mind), helping to restore harmony and clear emotional or energetic heaviness.
-
Most people feel calm, lighter, and deeply relaxed. You may feel more centered and emotionally clearer. As your body processes the shifts, it’s normal to feel tired, emotional or peaceful — everyone’s response is different. Rest and hydration are recommended afterwards.
-
Mirimiri is beautiful for people of all ages and stages — especially those seeking gentle healing, emotional release, spiritual reconnection, or support through grief and life transitions. It is also ideal if you feel run down, anxious, or disconnected from yourself.
-
Wear loose, comfortable clothing and come with an open heart. Before we begin, we will have a kōrero (chat) to understand where you are at emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Karakia (prayer) will guide the session, ensuring you feel safe and held throughout.
-
You can have Mirimiri as often as you feel called — whether it’s regular support for your wellbeing or as-needed during life’s challenges. We will kōrero after your session to guide you on what’s best for your healing journey.
